I started ShotByNick by accident when I was 14 years old.
What began as a high school version of Humans of New York has since evolved into a true love for documenting life.
I've never considered myself a “real” photographer. To me, it has always been about trying to find a way to show everyone around me the beauty of this world the way I saw it in my head.
The energy & movement at hardcore shows. Skating around Boston's north end on an empty summer night. A Turkish punk band playing a house show in Zaandam, the Netherlands. Strangers turned friends while cliff jumping Tommy's rock. A packed Amtrak train racing out of SLO towards Los Angles while trying to surf the 5:30am swell. Pushing the limits of a homemade boat around the islands of Saranac Lake. The dim lights and thick smoke of a dance hall in Marfa, Texas. A sunset wedding high up in an NYC penthouse. Capturing raw moments, raw emotions, and the interaction between people and their environment has always been a huge part of what motivates me to keep a camera with me, always.
I like to say there's a story behind every single picture I have ever taken - and there truly is. My Instagram & portfolio are a storybook filled with beautiful memories and the most amazing people in the world. Whether it's portraits or lifestyle - the connection I make with friends, strangers, and clients has always led to an unforgettable memory.
Even in high school, photography felt like the best job in the entire world. My camera was, and still is, a ticket to a world I never knew existed.
