I started SHOTBYNICK for an English class project during my sophomore year of high school. What began as my interpretation of Humans of New York, has since evolved into a true love for photography.
I have never considered myself a "real" photographer. To me, it has always been about documenting this beautiful world exactly the way I see it. The stories, the people, the places ...
The energy & movement at hardcore shows. Skating around Boston's north end on an empty summer night. A Turkish punk band playing a house show in Zaandam, Netherlands. Strangers turned friends while cliff jumping Tommy's rock. A packed Amtrak train racing out of SLO towards Los Angles while surfing the 5:30am swell. Pushing the limits of my homemade boat around the islands of Saranac Lake. The dim lights and thick smoke of a dance hall in Marfa, Texas. A sunset wedding high up in an NYC penthouse. An invite only desert rave in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo mountains. Cowboy camping in the cold and quiet New Mexico desert under the brightest stars i'd ever seen after a full day of climbing...
Capturing raw moments, raw emotions, and the interaction between people and their environment has always been a huge part of what motivates me to always keep my camera with me.
I like to say there's a story behind every single picture I have ever taken - and there truly is. My Instagram & portfolio are a storybook filled with beautiful memories and the most amazing people in the world. Whether it's portraits or lifestyle - the connection I make with friends, strangers, and clients has always led to an unforgettable memory
Even in high school, photography felt like the best job in the entire world. My camera was, and still is, a ticket to a world I never knew existed
Please enjoy my gallery! I hope you get the chance to see the world—even just a little bit - through my eyes
Thank you,
Nick Bruno
