I started ShotByNick by accident when I was 14 years old. What began as a high school version of Humans of New York has since evolved into a true love for capturing real moments—and a thriving business.
I never considered myself a “real” photographer. It was always just me trying to find a way to see the world I had envisioned in my head with my own two eyes.
The movement at hardcore shows. Skating through Boston on an empty summer night. Strangers turned friends while cliff jumping. An empty train racing from SLO to LAX. Pushing the limits of a homemade boat around the islands of Saranac Lake. Capturing raw moments, emotions, and the interaction between people and their environment has always been a huge part of what motivates me to keep going.
I like to say there's a story behind every single picture I have ever posted—and there truly is. My Instagram is a storybook filled with beautiful memories and the most amazing people in the world. Whether it's portraits or lifestyle shots, the connection I make with friends and clients while taking picture's has always led to an unforgettable moment.
Even in high school, photography felt like the best job in the entire world. My camera was—and still is—a ticket to a world I never knew existed. My junior year, I snuck out of my parents’ house to shoot Turnstile in Brooklyn (sorry, Mom) and ended up capturing my favorite photo I’ve ever taken to this day. That night lit a fire I'm still chasing.
Please enjoy my gallery. I hope you get the chance to see the world—even just a little bit—through my eyes.
Thank you,
Nick Bruno
